Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Apr. 4, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport for Rose Meyer, 75, who died Monday, Mar. 31, 2008 in Pine Haven at the Pine Villa Care Center. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Christian Mothers and Goldenaires Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m., parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m., followed by the Freeport Fire Fighters prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Rose Meyer was born on Apr. 20, 1932 in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Conrad and Veronica (Blenker) Nietfeld. She was united in marriage to Roman Meyer on Aug. 30, 1951 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald, MN. Rose worked at the Credit Union in Albany for 11 years. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Roman Meyer of Freeport; children, Daniel (Cheryl) Meyer of Freeport, Gerald "Jerry" (Deb) Meyer of Freeport, Sue (Joe) Wilken of St. Cloud, and Mary (Leon) Klaphake of Melrose; grandchildren, Eric, Craig and Heather Meyer, Missy, Michelle, and Mindy Meyer, Brian and Thomas Wilken, Ashley and Chris Klaphake; brother, Bernard (Delphine) Nietfeld of Greenwald; sisters, Mary Ann Schulzetenberg of Melrose and Alice (Peter) Engelmeyer of Ronneby. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pine Villa Chapel Renovation Project.
