Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Luxemburg for Clifford Schlangen, age 70, of Luxemburg, who died March 20, 2008 at Assumption Home in Cold Spring surrounded by his family. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with full military honors. Relatives and friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2008 and after 9:30 a.m. on Monday at Mary Hall in Luxemburg. Parish Prayers will be held at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at Mary Hall in Luxemburg. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Clifford was born July 3, 1937 in Cold Spring, MN to John and Regina (Flint) Schlangen. He grew up on a farm in the Pearl Lake area and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1957 –1959. He worked construction as a carpenter, owning his own business for many years. Carpentry was his love and he never retired. He married Bernice Valerius on October 2, 1962 in Rockville. She passed away July 2, 1989. He married Mary Ahles on February 11, 1994 in Luxemburg. He was an active member of St. Wendelin's Parish, volunteering on the parish council, building committee and as a trustee. He was also active on the school board and on the township planning commission. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 5377, Luxemburg Lions Club, St. Wendelin's Men's Society and Catholic Aid. He will be remem-bered for volunteering his carpentry skills through Habitat For Humanity and in the countries of Jamaica, Venezuela and Guatemala as well as local projects with Camp Friendship and the Children's Home.

Clifford is survived by his wife Mary of St. Cloud, children Brenda (Randy) Dingmann of Rockville, Mike (Joan) Schlangen of Rockville, Scott (Marlene) Ergen of Rockville, Steve (Tammy) Ergen of Moose Lake and Terry (Kathy) Ergen of Mora, 11 grandchildren, brothers and sisters Delores (Donald) Molitor of Rockville, Kathleen (Art) Fischer of St. Joseph, Geraldine (Gerald) Gohmann of St. Joseph, Cordie (Fritz) Hansen of Pearl Lake, Dorothy (Ralph) Hansen of Cold Spring and Jack (Noreen) Schlangen of Watkins and sister-in-laws Vernette Schlangen and Kathleen Rothstein.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Bernice, daughter Laurie Ergen, granddaughter Michelle Schlangen, brothers Reynold, LeRoy and Leonard and sister Lorraine Schlangen. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the St. Wendelin's Parish Building Fund.
