Leo H. Schneider, 76, of Meire Grove died July 7, 2005, at Melrose Area Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was held July 11 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Ken Thielman officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Leo Schneider was born on Oct. 8, 1928, in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minn., to John and Bernadine (Kerkering) Schneider. He was united in marriage to Anna Mae C. Arceneau on Oct. 25, 1955, in St. Martin, Minn. They farmed five miles west of Meire Grove for 22 years. They retired and moved to town. Leo enjoyed wood crafting, playing concertina and watching baseball. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, Meire Grove, St. Josephs Society, Poor Souls Society, Catholic Aid, and a church choir member for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Anna Mae Schneider of Meire Grove; sons, Rick Schneider (Carol) of Meire Grove and Ken Schneider (Linda) of Meire Grove; grandchildren, Brian, Sara, Scott and Kayla Schneider; sisters and brothers, Marie Marthaler of Meire Grove, Clara Frieler of Melrose, Ledwina Ostendorf (Ervin) of Waite Park, Arlene Gully of Paynesville, Lorraine Inderrieden (Bob) of St. Cloud, Werner Schneider of New London and Joe Schneider (Frances) of Meire Grove.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elmer Schneider. Casket bearers were Brian Schneider, Scott Schneider, Bob Feldewerd, Tim Frieler, Don Schneider and Jim Wenker. Cross bearer was Sara Schneider and scripture bearer will be Kayla Schneider. Lector was Diane Smith and gift bearers were Rick and Ken Schneider. Honorary bearers were St. Josephs Society.
