Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Marcella K. Lieser, age 97, of Paynesville, who passed away Friday, June 2 at the Paynesville Area Hospital. Burial will take place in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. on Monday (TODAY) at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville. A community rosary will held at 4 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
Marcella K. "Mert" (Winter) Lieser was born to John J. and Mary Ann (Lenz) Winter on September 16, 1908 in Spring Hill Township. She grew up on a farm along the Sauk River east of Spring Hill. She married Edmund B. Lieser on September 8, 1931 at St. Michael's Church in Spring Hill. They farmed south of Spring Hill for 40 years and moved to Paynesville in 1971. She loved the outdoors, especially the Stoney Creek and Sauk River where she was born. In her early years she loved to dance and always loved playing cards with family, friends and the Canasta group. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, Catholic Aid and Christian Women, Paynesville Daughters of Isabella, Crosier Apostolate, and St. Ann's Christian Women and St. Mary's Mission Group of Spring Hill. She was also a past regional Chairperson for the Mission Auxiliary of the Diocese of St. Cloud.
Marcella is survived by her daughters Elaine Lieser of Paynesville and Doreen (Roger) Wenker of Greenwald, son Gary (Corrine) Lieser of Spring Hill, daughter-in-law Florence Lieser Dingmann of Belgrade, 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband (March 15, 1975), son Rodney (September 6, 1992), one infant son, three infant grandchildren, brothers Walter W., Raymond, Otto, Edwin, and Gilbert Winter and sisters Della Henning, Vernie Benz, Linda Laubach and Nellie Athmann.
