Donald Notch, 71, of Browerville, passed away on October 24, 2007, at his residence after a long courageous battle with leukemia. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 29, 2007, 12 noon, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Father David Maciej officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, October 28, 2007, 4-8 p.m., and on the day of the service starting at 11 a.m. in the church. Interment will be at Christ the King Cemetery in Browerville. Casket Bearers are Harold Lillquist, Scott Muntifering, Mark Gilson, Pat Betsinger, Rak Tray and Darin Hukriede.
Don was born on April 26, 1936 in Oak Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Alphonse & Clara (Tabatt) Notch. He graduated from Eagle Bend High School in 1954 and joined the US Navy from 1954 to 1959 when he was honorably discharged. Don worked at Mobil in Long Prairie for 15 years, farmed in rural Browerville since 1965 and was a rural mail carrier from 1981 until his retirement in 2002. Don raised 7 children on the farm in Browerville. He was a member of Christ the King Church in Browerville. Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Don is survived by his special friend Myra Peterson, children: Barbara (Harold) Lillquist of Sebeka, Margaret (Scott) Muntifering of St. Cloud, Kathryn (Mark) Gilson of Osakis, Patricia (Pat) Betsinger of Browerville, Michelle (Rak) Tray of St. Joseph, Donald Notch Jr. of Osakis, Jacqueline (Darin) Hukriede of Grey Eagle, 15 grandchildren, 9 siblings: Albert (Marlys) Notch of Eagle Bend, Herbert Notch of Des Moines, Iowa, Ralph (Janice) Notch of Eagle Bend, Richard (Donna) of Big Lake, Doris (Ed) Pachan of Eagle Bend, Doreen (Lawrence) Lenk of Hoyt Lakes, Bernice (Ed) Polak of Browerville, Mary Alice (Vince) Lenk of Forest Lake and Alvin (Diane) Notch of Eagle Bend.
