Services will be noon Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church for Richard P. Klein, 79, 835-30th Ave. N, who died Saturday at his home.Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home. National Association of Retired Federal Employees will pray at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud followed by VFW Post 428 at 6, Disabled American Veterans at 6:15, Eagles Aerie 622 at 6:30, Richmond Foresters at 7 and parish prayers at 7:30.
Richard Klein was born in Richmond to Gothard and Mary (Nathe) Klein. He married Dolores Spanier on June 2, 1948, in St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Farming. He lived in St. Cloud most of his married life. He was employed as a counselor at St. Cloud VA Medical Center for many years, retiring in 1979. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post 428, Eagles Aerie 622, Richmond Foresters and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife; son and daughters, Orville of Dixon, Calif., Rebecca Hall of Maple Grove, and Marietta of Dallas; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Gertrude Holdvogt of Royalton.
He was preceded in death by one grandson; and brothers and sisters, William, Walter, Orville, Veronica, Evelyn Rieland and Margaret. Memorials are preferred.
