Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2007 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Ado Wensman, age 67, of Paynesville, who died Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Burial will take place in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery with full military honors. Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. A service by the Paynesville American Legion Post 271 will be at 7 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. on Monday at the church.
Ado was born April 1, 1939 in Freeport, MN to Anton and Rose (Bueckers) Wensman. He served in the U.S. Army and then the National Guard. He married Patricia Gruber on October 19, 1959 at St. Margarets Catholic Church in Lake Henry. He worked as a truck driver and drove nearly 30 years for UPS. He retired in 1996. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Paynesville American Legion Post 271, St. Louis Knights of Columbus Council 3820 and Catholic Order of Foresters. Some of Ados favorite pastimes were woodworking in his hobby shop, hunting and fishing with his family, playing cards and gardening. Some of his most memorable trips were to Colorado, Montana, Michigan and Alaska. He will also be remembered for his involvement and dedication to the Paynesville American Legion. But most important to Ado was his love for his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ado is survived by his wife Pat of Paynesville, children Patrick (Deb) of Colorado, Wade of Paynesville, Missy (Wayne) Brogren of Atwater, Todd (Debbie) of Michigan and Amy (John) Elfering of Paynesville, mother Rose Wensman of Belgrade, 7 grandchildren: J.T., Tanner, Mitchell, Rachel, Macy, Ava and Cate, brothers and sisters Robert (Shirley) of Sauk Centre, Linus (Mary Lou) of Crystal, Mel (Marcy) of Arizona, Denis (Mary Ann) of Greenwald, Arlene Wensman of Brooklyn Park, Carol (David) Mott of Onamia, Lois (Mike) DesParte of Georgia, and Cynthia (Victor) Cohen of Nevada as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death is his father Anton.
