Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2003 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN for John Botz, who died Thursday, May 1, 2003 at the St. Cloud Veterans Administration Hospital. Rev. Virgil Helmin will officiate. Full military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #428 at the cemetery. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
Arrangements are by the Williams Funeral Home. Friends my call from 9 - 10 a.m. at the church on Monday, May 5, 2003.
John was born on July 5, 1925 to George and Martha (Maehren) Botz in St. Cloud, MN. He married LaVerne Kleinschmidt on November 1, 1950 in Austin, MN. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and was employed as a clerk for Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a resident of Park Rapids from 1986-2002, and then returned to St. Cloud. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Park Rapids American Legion and VFW Post #428.
John is survived by his wife LaVerne, St. Cloud; daughters and sons, Barbara (John) Hogg, Minneapolis, MN, George (Nancy) Botz, St. Cloud, Susan (Thomas) Kruchten, Clear Lake, MN, Mary Schmitt and fiancé Paul Pearson, St. Cloud, MN, Daniel (Gina) Botz, East Bethel, MN; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Virginia Thayer, Arlington, MA, and brother, Paul (Kathy) Botz, St. Cloud, MN.
John was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Tom; infant grandson, Jacob Botz, and an infant brother. Memorials are preferred to the American Red Cross Blood Bank. Casket bearers will be grandchildren, Elizabeth Hogg, Emily Hogg, Katie Hogg, Jon Botz, Alex Botz, Angela Kruchten, Mitchel Kruchten, Brittney Kruchten, and Michael Schmitt.
