Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose for Alma Hellermann who died Tuesday at the Melrose Area Hospital. Inter-ment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Elizabeth's Society and the Christian Mothers will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Alma was born in Melrose to Ben G. and Elizabeth (VonWahlde) Hinnenkamp. She was united in marriage to Paul Hellermann on November 11, 1947 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. Alma and Paul farmed in the Melrose area and later retired and moved into town. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth's Society and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her children, Marian Goebel of Melrose; Elaine (Russ) Thom of Sauk Centre; John (Veronica) Hellermann of Melrose; Ralph Hellermann of Melrose; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Alvin (Esther) Hinnenkamp of Sauk Centre and Andrew Hinnenkamp of Melrose.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cornelia Wielenberg and brother Edward Hinnenkamp. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
