Florence C. Kocher, age 90, of Sauk Centre died Feb. 25, 2006, at the St. Michaels Hospital in Sauk Centre. Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2006, at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Florence Kocher was born March 30, 1915, in Grove Township, Stearns County, to Frank and Willamina (Schwegman) Marthaler. She married Joseph Kocher on Jan. 15, 1935, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Meire Grove. They lived in Hague for a short time before moving to Minneapolis in May of 1936. In 1976, after retirement, they moved to Fairy Lake where they enjoyed fishing, dancing and playing cards. Over the years they have traveled extensively, visiting 46 states and numerous countries. For the past several years they resided in Sauk Centre. After Joseph died in 2005, Florence moved to Getty Street Assisted Living in Sauk Centre. She was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church of Sauk Centre, Christian Mothers and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son, Ron Kocher (Joyce) of Minnetrista; grandchildren, John and Jeremiah Kocher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph on Feb. 11, 2005; son, Duane Kocher; brothers and sisters, Henrietta Kulzer, Joseph Marthaler, William Marthaler, Alphonse Marthaler, Hildagard Schmiesing, Caroline Sulem, Edwin Marthaler and Irene Wallander. Serving as casket bearers were Virgil and Melvin Marthaler, Tony Jennissen, Clyde Uphus, Robert Schmiesing and Russell Waterman. Cross bearer was John Kocher and scripture bearer was Jeremiah Kocher. Memorials are preferred to St. Pauls Catholic Church, Sauk Centre. The family of Florence Kocher would like to express their thanks to the staff of both Getty Street and St. Michaels Hospital for all their care and support. Arrangements are with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Sauk Centre.
