Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at St. Boniface Catholic Church for Edith Rausch, age 91, who died Wednesday at the Assumption Nursing Home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring. Senior Citizens and Christian Women will pray a rosary at 4:30 p.m., and parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m.
Edith was born in Rockville to Henry J. and Rosina (Schmitz) Meinz. She married Domnick Dame Rausch in June of 1934 in Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, Rockville. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, and was a sports enthusiast. Aside from her family, her greatest joy in life was playing golf. She shared her knowledge of the game, and influenced many local golfers, improving their game with hints and how-to tips. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, St. Boniface Christian Women, and while residing in the John Paul community was an active volunteer.
Survivors include her children, Shirley (Robert) Athmann, Seattle, WA, Jim (Connie), Cold Spring, Lois Butch, Jordan, MN; brothers and sisters, Erma Rausch, Cold Spring, Louise Mickey Rausch, Cold Spring, Julius Meinz, Tigard, Oregon, William Bill Meinz, St. Joseph; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband (1978); brother, Joseph Meinz; and sister, Martha Rausch.
