Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for David R. Spanier, age 68, of Paynesville, who died peacefully on November 19 at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Burial will take place in the Paynesville Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday (TODAY) and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. St. Louis Knights of Columbus will pray at 5 p.m. and Parish Prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville made the arrangements.
David was born May 10, 1938 in Lake Henry, MN to Herb and Erma (Lahr) Spanier. He married Geri Hertzberg on June 10, 1970 at St. Margarets Catholic Church in Lake Henry. He worked at the Paynesville Cenex / Farmers Union Co-Op since August 1, 1965 and was the head of the petroleum department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3820 and an active member of the St. Louis Catholic Church. David enjoyed his work because he met with many people. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren doing outdoor activities.
David is survived by his wife Geri of Paynesville, sons Troy (Nadine) of Chaska, Terry (Lisa) of Grove City, Todd (Jackie) of Paynesville and Tory (Sarah) of Montrose, 8 grandchildren, and brothers and sisters Melvin (Etheline) of Paynesville, Cyril (Joanne) of Lake Henry, Evie (Darrell) Sorenson of Stillwater, Mary (Gerald) Johnson of South Carolina, Roger (Pat) of Avon, Richard (Rita) of Forest Lake, Orville O.J. (Susan) of Arizona, Judy (Paul) Lieser of Spring Lake Park, Michael (Kathy) of Sartell and Kevin (Bonnie) of Arizona. Preceding him in death are his parents. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
