Lance Cpl. Anthony P. Blommel is serving aboard the USS Trenton in the Persian Gulf. He is the son of Louis and Donna Blommel of St. Joe, and the grandson of Mary Blommel of St. Joe and the late Frank Blommel, and the late Clarence and Mae Hurst of Brooksville. He also has two brothers at home, Gregory and Timothy, and an aunt in Brooksville, Linda Cleaveland. His fiancee, Becky Matthew, lives in Dade City

The annual Christmas event graces the city's streets with lighted floats, marching bands and several renditions of Jingle Bells.
Tony and Rebecca Blommel said they have been to quite a few of Dade City's Christmas parades. "But this one was bigger than usual," said Tony Blommel.
The 14th annual Magical Christmas Parade ushered in the holiday season Friday night with music, lights and marching bands. "The horses were the best part," said 4-year-old Amanda Blommel. "I'm going to ride them when I grow up."
BLOMMEL, Anthony Paul "Tony", was born April 24, 1967 in Albany, Ga., to Louis Blommel and Donna Hurst Blommel. He passed into God's care on June 8, 2012 at the James A. Haley Veteran's hospital in Tampa, Florida. He graduated from Pasco High School, in Dade City, Florida. He was a veteran of Dessert Storm. Tony was a massage therapist, and was attending Keiser University, Lakeland, Florida working towards his Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition. He was catholic by faith.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife Becky, son Lance Corporal Derek, and daughter Amanda. His parents Louis and Donna Blommel, Brother Timothy. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces and Nephews. Preceded in death by his brother Gregory, his grandparents, Frank and Mary Blommel, Clarence and Mae Hurst.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 13, 2012 from 5-7 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home. 11441 US Hwy 301, Dade City, Florida. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Ridge Manor, Florida. Father John Hayes will be officiating, he is Tony's cousin. Interment with military honors to follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Tony was never without a smile, he was a happy and contented person. We will always love you Tony and cherish the beautiful memories we made with you forever.
