Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2001, at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Avon, for Gerald B. "Jerry" Blonigen, who died Friday at his home in Avon. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the William's Funeral Home, Avon, and also one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Jerry was born April 24, 1941, in St. Martin, MN, to Nicholas and Ida (Terharr) Blonigen. He married Mary Lou Andreasen on September 22, 1973, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Avon. Jerry has owned and operated PJ's Supper Club in Avon, MN, since 1970. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War. Jerry was a past Commander of the Avon American Legion Post #538, and was a member of the Albany Golf Club and St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Avon. He was also a life long Green Bay Packer Fan.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Avon; children, Pamela (Bob) Blonigen-Platz of Lake Elmo, MN, Patricia of St. Paul, MN, and Ashley at home; brothers, Bill Blonigen of Avon, MN, Alcuin "Tex" Blonigen of Paynesville, MN, Freddie Blonigen of Burnsville, MN; and sisters, Mary Decker and Carol Thull both of Eagan, MN, and Genevieve Sand of St. Cloud, MN.
