Services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena for Marie B. Schmitz who passed away Saturday at the St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church. Fr Albert Homes will preside with burial at the Calvary cemetery in Wadena.
Marie was born on July 10, 1906 in Bluffton, MN to Romeo and Mary (Barthle) Stuntebeck. She later would marry Francis (Hank) Schmitz, and work with Minnesota Home School until 1975. Her hobbies included crocheting and reading. She belonged to the Christian Mothers in both Sauk Centre and Wadena.
Survivors include her sons; Arthur "Dick" (Eileen) Schmitz, Rochester, Charles (Coral) Schmitz, Park Rapids; daughters, Mary Jane Cox, Sauk Centre, Sally (Bill) Lorentz, St. Joseph; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Preceding her in death was her husband Francis (Hank) Schmitz; her parents Romeo and Mary Stuntebeck; brothers Rich, Romie, and Bruno; and sisters, Hildegard Schmitz, Ellen Cotone, and Barbara Harrison.
