Patrick Henry Terhaar, age 84, Waite Park, MN, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Heritage House of Pequot Lakes, Pequot Lakes, MN. Funeral services will be Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.
Patrick was born July 16, 1925 in Pierz, MN to Joseph and Mary (Halliday) Terhaar. He married Mildred Rieland on July 23, 1945 in Sedan, MN. They moved to the St. Cloud area in 1962, where he was employed by Megarry Brothers Construction and then the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Patrick retired in 1987. He was a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church. Patrick enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, playing pool and cards and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include daughters, Elaine (William) Hooper of Crosslake, MN; Diana (David Knebes) McGee of Tierra Verde, FL; brothers, Raymond (Carol) Terhaar of Maple Grove, MN; John (Phyllis) Terhaar of Elk River, MN; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two step grandsons; 1 step great grandson; and long time companion, Shirley Dickison of Waite Park, MN and her extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mildred, in December 1991, son, Dennis Terhaar in January 2009, four brothers, Herman, Leo, Edmond and Charles Terhaar, and three sisters, Mary Ann Nordaune, Viola Wittrock and Mildred Jensen. Patricks family and Shirley would like to thank the staff at Heritage House of Pequot Lakes and Heartland Hospice of Brainerd for the tender loving care they gave to Patrick.
