Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport for Edith Butkowski who died peacefully on Monday, June 8 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. Interment will immediately follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in St. Rosa. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church in Freeport. Goldenaires Senior Citizens and Christian Mothers will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5 p.m. Thursday evening.
Edith Coe was born June 29, 1913 in Millwood Township, Stearns County to George and Ida Mae (Davis) Coe. On September 16, 1930 she married Joseph Butkowski at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Edith was known for beautiful doilies, quilts, and embroidery work. She was never without a project and never sat idle. Edith was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport and the Christian Mothers of Freeport and St. Rosa.
Survivors include her children, David (Carol) Butkowski of Freeport, Daniel (Nancy) Butkowski of Little Rock, AR, Elaine Blommel of Freeport, Leilani Rolfes of Freeport, and Leah (Duane) Vornbrock of Sauk Centre; 30 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Butkowski on July 21, 1982; daughter, Ida Kutzer; sisters, Elsie Pratt, Clara Hill, Flossie Chenney, and Bernice Skeldon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pine Villa Activities Department in Melrose.
