Eleanor C. Lieser, age 93 of Sauk Centre, died on Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Assumption Home in Cold Spring. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Dick McGuire will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Eleanor Lieser was born on Jun 22, 1911 in Lake Henry Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Peter and Mary (Bertram) Wuertz. On June 9, 1930 she was united in marriage to Leo Lieser in Lake Henry, Minn. The couple farmed near Spring Hill until they moved to Sauk Centre in 1959. She was employed by St. Michael's Hospital from 1959 until she retired in 1975. Since October of 1999 she had resided at Assumption Home in Cold Spring. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include five children, Lillian (Walter) Welle of Detroit Lakes, Mary Ann (Eldred) Athmann of St. Cloud, Matt (Mary Lou) Lieser of Cold Spring, Irene (Bill) Sunderman of Sauk Centre, Elaine Hoff of Maplewood; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Lieser on May 6, 1964; two infant sons, Irvin and Neil Lieser; brothers, Paul, Elmer, Othmar and Alvin Wuertz; and son-in-law, Gerald Hoff.
Serving as casket bearers will be Lonnie and Shanon Hoff, Mark and Marty Lieser, Rich and Jeff Welle. Cross bearer will be Jodi Rohe and scripture bearer will be Kim Ruppert.
