Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Lauretta R. Hopfer age 91 of Paynesville who died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Reverend Richard Leisen will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery in Paynesville. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. The St. Margaret's Rosary Society and Christian Women will pray a rosary at 5:00 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in Paynesville.
Lauretta was born on May 4, 1913 in Lake Henry, Minnesota a to Jacob and Hedwig (Jaeger) Kraemer. She married Leonard Hopfer on September 11, 1933 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Lake Henry. They farmed in the Lake Henry area until retirement when they moved to Paynesville in 1977. Lauretta enjoyed quilt making, embroidery, cooking and playing cards. She was a member of St. Louis Parish, St. Margaret's Rosary Society and Christian Women in Lake Henry.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura (Tony) Eickhoff of Eden Valley; two sons, Art (Jean) Hopfer of Freeport, and Wilfred "Bill" (Martha) Hopfer of Richmond; foster son, Bill (Arlana) Langner of Alexandria; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Cressentia) Kraemer of Paynesville; sister, Alverna Bierschbach of Melrose; brother-in-law, Irwin Fuerstenberg of Sauk Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on November 2, 1993, daughter-in-law Rosie Hopfer, great grandson, Michael Kampsen, brother, Leo and sister Renilda Fuerstenberg.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
