Mar 15, 1999 Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Norbert Ahrens, 72, who died Monday at Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home, Long Prairie. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. today, and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be 6:30 tonight at the funeral home in Grey Eagle.
Norbert Ahrens was born in Melrose to Henry and Elizabeth (Hallermann) Ahrens. He married Caroline Boeckermann on May 18, 1948, in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Saint Rosa. He lived and farmed near Grey Eagle for 50 years before retiring and moving to Grey Eagle in 1996. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grey Eagle. He also was a former member of Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph's Society.
Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters, Robert, Leroy, John and Joe of Grey Eagle, Joyce Revering of Burtrum, Anna Mae Graves of Long Prairie, and Jane Schultz of Eagle Bend; sisters and brother, Lorraine Uphoff and Marcella Meyer of Melrose, and Ralph of Sauk Centre; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren
