Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004 at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN for Romuald "Romie" Lauer, age 83, who died Wednesday at his home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday (TODAY) and from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the St. Martin Parish Center, St. Martin, MN. The Catholic Aid Association and St. Joseph Men's Society will pray at 7:30 p.m. and Parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. Friday. Arrangements with the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond, MN.
Romuald was born in Farming Township, MN to Chris and Barbara (Wilms) Lauer. He married MaryAnn Schaefer on May 31, 1954 in St. Martin Catholic Church, St. Martin, MN. He farmed in the St. Martin area and in 1986 retired and moved to St. Martin. Romuald enjoyed playing cards, bowling, fishing, hunting and visiting with his family and friends. He was a member of the St. Martin Parish, Catholic Aid Association, St. Joseph Men's Society, St. Martin Adult Choir, St. Martin Community Band, St. Martin Cooperative Board of Directors and he was a St. Martin Catholic Church Trustee.
Survivors include his wife, MaryAnn; children, Gary (Anne) of Coon Rapids, Dale (Judi) of Spicer, Conrad of St. Martin, Carol (Greg) Mohrenweiser of Onamia, Tim of St. Martin, Fred (Karla) of St. Cloud, Doreen (Randy) Kern of Paynesville and Ron (Tammy) of Baxter; 15 grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Marie) of Albany, Victor of Minnetonka, Alois (Alice) of St. Cloud, Florian (Mary Ann) of St. Paul; sister, Rosie (Ted) Gram of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law, Marie (+Clarence) of Paynesville, Ann (+Arthur) of Eagan and Alice (+Walter) of St. Cloud.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita (Athman); children, Roger and Sandra; parents; brothers, Clarence, Arthur and Walter and sister-in-law, Hilde.
