Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Cold Spring for Mathilda Zimmerman, age 89, who died Friday at the Assumption Nursing Home. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud. Friends may call from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.
Mathilda was born in Melrose to Jacob and Elizabeth (Nathe) Klassen. She married William H. Zimmerman in October 1934 at St. Mary¹s Cathedral, St. Cloud. She worked as a government employee at Ft. Snelling, MN, the St. Cloud VA Hospital, and Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX until her retirement in 1974. She was a volunteer at the Camilla Rose Day Care Center in Coon Rapids, she knit and crocheted mittens and scarves for the poor, and she was a volunteer grandparent at the St. Boniface Grade School.
Survivors include her son, William C. (Georgia) of Cold Spring; grandsons, Craig and Randall; great-grandchildren, Rheanne, Ginelle, Bradley, and Cory; and her sister, Sister Jeannette Klassen, OSB. St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and three brothers. Memorials are preferred.
