Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2003 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Hubert "Hubie" Athmann age 63, who died Thursday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. The Cold Spring Fire Department and American Legion will pray at 7:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8:00 p.m.

Hubert was born in Belgrade, MN to Christ and Alma (Breitbach) Athmann. He married Rose Mary Gran on October 8, 1960 in St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter, MN. He was employed by the Cold Spring Granite Company. His hobbies included fishing, cards, bowling, woodworking, vacations at Pinehurst Resort and watching Richmond Baseball games. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish, the Cold Spring American Legion and a retired member of the Cold Spring Fire Department (21 years).

Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary; children, Karen (Brian) Buermann of Richmond, Kevin (Annette), Gary (Ruth), Shelly (Tim) Rothstein of Cold Spring, Dan (Cathy) of Alexandria and Kristen (Dave) Stadther of Cold Spring; brothers and sisters, Gerald of South St. Paul, Ilean Lieser of Clara City, Ralph of Elrosa, Elverna Ebensteiner of Royalton, Reuben of Cold Spring, Jane Arnott of New Brighton; grandchildren, Megan and Sara Buermann, Ryan Stahovich, Gina, Blaine and Samantha Athmann, Danielle, Katie and Taylor Rothstein, Easton and Jadyn Athmann, Amanda and Mason Stadther. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bernard; infant brother, Fabian and infant sister, Cyrilla.
