Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 26 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose for Louis "Louie" Thieschafer who died peacefully Wednesday at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. Rev. Vince Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman will concelebrate with interment following in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Louie Thieschafer was born December 6, 1917 in Melrose, Minnesota to Bernard and Mary (Imdieke) Thieschafer. He farmed north of Melrose in Melrose Township, Stearns County most of his life. For the past three years he had resided at Park View Center in Melrose. He was a life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Louie enjoyed bowling, checking the crops, visiting with relatives and friends, and watching the Twins and Vikings. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph and Alphonse Thieschafer; sisters, Rose Klaphake, Alvina Oevermann, Dorothy Beuning, Veronica Elfering, and Ann Kersting. Serving as casket bearers will be Val Gieske, Ed Pohlmann, Bernard Kersting, Robert Roelike, Elmer Beuning, and Scott Butkowski. Cross bearer will be Brent Reller and scripture bearer will be Brandon Reller, both his grandnephews.
