Burnell B. "Moxie" Schauer, 75, of Little Sauk died Wednesday Feb. 23, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. Memorial services were held Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Stein-Dingmann Funeral Home Chapel in Long Prairie. The Rev. Mark Stang officiated and burial will be in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery in Long Prairie.
Moxie was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Arlington to Emil and Cora (Melzer)Schauer. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Erma E. Schmiesing on July 3, 1954 in Norwood, Ohio. He had lived in Little Sauk Township for the past 22 years until September, 2004 when he moved to the Veterans Home in Silver Bay. Moxie was an over the road truck driver and worked for various companies. He was a member of the Little Sauk American Legion and the Osakis VFW. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, reading and visiting with friends.
Survivors include his children, Greg and Andy both of Osakis; Mike (Karen), Mary (Paul) Siegle all of Long Prairie; four grandchildren, Brent and Tiffany Schauer, Matt and Jim Siegle. He is also survived by his sisters, Lucille Henderson, Dallas LaBelle, and LaVonne Schauer, all of Minneapolis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Erma on (Aug. 29, 2000), brothers, Rusty, Virgil, and Darrell Schauer. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren.
