Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Bertha E. Sonnen, 88, who died Monday at Melrose Area Hospital.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. St. Elizabeth Society will pray the rosary at 7 tonight at the funeral home followed by parish prayers at 8.
Bertha Sonnen was born in Melrose to Nicholas and Caroline (Struck) Sonnen. She worked as a housekeeper for 51 years for the Rev. Nicholas Kraemer in Kimball, Wheaton, Perham, Spring Hill and Melrose, where she moved to in 1982. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Society.Survivors include sisters, Rose Brickweg of Melrose, and Rita Thorne of St. Cloud.
