Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church for Luverne M. Lieser, 74, who died Monday at his home. Entombment will be in St. Louis Parish Mausoleum, Paynesville. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville, and one hour before services Thursday at the church in Paynesville. The St. Louis Christian Women and the Daughters of Isabella will pray at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Paynesville followed by parish prayers at 7:30 and the St. Louis Council of the Knights of Columbus at 8:30.
Luverne Lieser was born in Lake Henry to Charles and Margaret (Fuchs) Lieser. He married Catherine Bertram on Jan. 24, 1949, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Spring Hill. He farmed for 17 years in Kandiyohi County until 1966. He then farmed near Lake Henry until moving to Paynesville in 1990. He was a school board member in Kandiyohi County for nine years and a past supervisor for the Lake Henry Township. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church where he was an usher. He also was a member of St. Louis Council of the Knights of Columbus 3820, St. Joseph's Men's Society and St. Margaret's Rosary Society in Lake Henry, the Roseville Friendly Seniors and St. Isadore's Mission Group.
Survivors include his wife Catherine; children, Carol Lyle of Bird Island, Dan of Fergus Falls, Steve of New London, Bill of Belgrade, Bob of Paynesville, John of Clear Lake, Randy of St. Cloud, Laurie Mueller of Coon Rapids, and Lisa Rademacher of Fergus Falls; 29 grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Anita Knese of Edina, Bernie Haines of Paynesville, Wally of New Brighton, Harold of Fairmont, and Mary Jane Wengler and Duane of Belgrade. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Rice Hospital Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
