Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Alvera M. Meyer, age 73, who died Tuesday at her home. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond (151 Oakwood Ave S.E.). The Christian Women and Golden Smiles Senior Citizens will pray at 4:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Alvera was born in Greenwald, MN to Albert and Marina (Hansen) Winning. She married Leander S. Meyer on August 26, 1952 in Greenwald, MN. Alvera was employed at Cold Spring Granite Bronze for 17 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, entertaining, resurrecting house plants, sewing, crocheting, embroidering and SHOPPING! Alvera especially took pride in her 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish and the Christian Women.
Survivors include her husband, Leander; children, Bonnie Kalmoe of St. Cloud, John of Richmond, Jim "Oscar" (Laurie Liestmann) of Richmond, Jeff (Bonnie Lahr) of Cold Spring, Brenda (Loren) Boeckmann of Jordan, Bev Kuschel (Paul Olmscheid) of Richmond, BethAnn (Michael) Neu of Richmond; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Verlia Koopmeiners, Leola (Ken) Patz, Cindy (Robert) Coolbroth and brother, Gary Winning.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Winning, Sr. and brother-in-law, Bert Koopmeiners. The family would like to give a very special "Thank You" to the caring members of the Richmond Fire & Rescue Dept. for their "Quick" response and assistance.
