Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church for Leo Schloegl, 87, who died Monday at his home. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Leo Schloegl was born in Bruno, Saskatchewan, Canada, to William and Elenora (Brumleve) Schloegl. The family moved to the Sauk Centre area in 1925. He married Priscilla Meyer on April 10, 1944, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. The couple farmed southwest of Sauk Centre for two years. In 1947, they moved to a farm in Birchdale Township, Todd County, where he resided ever since. He also did custom farm work combining, baling and swathing in the Sauk Centre area for many years. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children, Joyce Courier of South Haven, Miss., George of Waite Park, Joan Schloegl Bueckers of St. Cloud, Art of Buffalo Lake and Darryl Ilgen of Hector; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers, Rose Gettel and Robert of Sauk Centre, Gertrude Craig of Medford, Wis., Mary Bong of Osseo, Ray of Columbus, Ga., Tony of Hugo and Ralph of Breckenridge.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 17, 1997; son, Warren; two grandchildren; and brothers, Norbert and Joe.
