Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Marie Heidgerken, 93, who died Thursday at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home, Albany. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday and one hour before services Monday at the church in Freeport. Golden Years Senior Citizens will pray at 4 Sunday at the church followed by Christian Mothers at 7 and parish prayers at 8. Arrangements were made by Patton-Schad Funeral Service, Melrose.
Marie Heidgerken was born in Melrose to Henry and Anna (Westendorf)Middendorf. She married George Heidgerken on May 3, 1934, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport. The couple farmed in Freeport until their retirement in 1968. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her children, James of St. Martin, John of Minnetonka, Irene Obermiller, Dennis, Bernard, Peter and Charles of Freeport, Paul of Albany, Mary Hinnenkamp of Albert Lea, and Carol Setterholm of New Ulm; 34 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister and brothers, Clara Michaels, Herman and August "Happy" of Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 6, 1985; son, George Jr. in 1970; one grandson; and brothers and sisters, Fred, Joe, Henry, Elizabeth Brickweg, Aurelia Gaebel, Josepha Hiltner and Annie Klaphake
