Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring for Frances "Sis" Brinker, age 93, who died Tuesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the St. James Parish Cemetery in Jacobs Prairie, MN. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. The St. Ann's Christian Mothers, Cold Spring VFW Auxiliary, and Catholic Aid Assoc. will pray at 4:30 p.m.; parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m.
Frances was born in Roscoe, MN to Ferdinand and Barbara (Niewind) Mackedanz. She married John Brinker on November 27, 1929 in the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Roscoe. She was a homemaker and worked many years as a housekeeper at the College of St. Benedict. She was a member of the St. Ann's Christian Women, VFW Auxiliary, and the Catholic Aid Assoc. She enjoyed playing cards, playing slots at the casinos, visiting with friends, eating at Hardees, and family functions with her grandchildren. She was very proud of all her children, including the fact that she was blessed with three sets of twins.
Survivors include her children, Gilbert (Esther), Ron, Della (Gervase) Jungels, and John (Gloria) of Cold Spring, Dick (Mary) and Doris (Jack) Torborg of St. Cloud, Joan (Harv) Roske, and Art (Arlene) of St. Joseph, and Dennis of St. Paul; son-in-law, Carl Mueller; brothers and sister, Sylvester Mackedanz of Richmond, Gert Thomes of Roscoe, and Henry Mackedanz of Paynesville; 50 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, John (1976); daughters, Ruth Mueller (1982) and Mary Jane Brinker (1937); son-in-law, Syl Olmscheid; brothers and sister, Ben, Leo, Jack, Ray, Frank and Theresa; and 2 grandsons, Mark Olmscheid and Jeff Mueller.
