Memorial services will be on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Jean A. (Spoden) Ziehl, age 77, of St. Cloud, who died Friday June 27, 2003. Reverend Edwin Kraemer will officiate. Inurnment will be in St. Patrick's Parish Cemetery, Minden Township, Benton County. riends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. The Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428 Auxiliary will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.
Jean was born on May 24, 1926 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Anton and Rose (Ethen) Engelhard. She married Vernon Spoden on October 26, 1946 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1961. She married Henry Ziehl on October 26, 1971 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She lived in St. Cloud all of her life. ean was a member of the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428 Auxiliary and a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Parish.
Survivors include her children, Tony Spoden and his wife, Joanne, of St. Cloud, Joyce Schoen of Sauk Centre, Jaymes Spoden of St. Cloud, Jaculin Spoden-Bolz and her husband, Michael Bolz, of Sauk Centre, and Jeffery Spoden and his wife Mary of St. Cloud; 20 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard of Burbank, Calif., and Thomas of Minneapolis, and four sisters, Rosemary Buckman and Shirley Schmardel, both of San Diego, Calif., Sara Lou Bahe of Waite Park, and Doreen Abfalter of St. Cloud.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Vernon Spoden, and her second husband, Henry Ziehl in 1989. Arrangements are being made by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
