Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Cold Spring, MN for Raymond Rothstein, age 98, who died Sunday at the Assumption Nursing Home, Cold Spring. Burial will be at a later date in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
Visitation will be an hour prior to the service Saturday morning in the church. Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring.
Ray was born in Richmond, MN to Peter and Mary (Braegelmann) Rothstein. He married Gladys Erickson on October 13, 1983 in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cold Spring. Ray served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was an auto mechanic for Raymond Trucking in Minneapolis for many years and worked 8-10 years at the Cold Spring Brewery. Ray was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodworking, and was a very sharp dresser. Ray and Gladys always looked forward to their winters in Arizona. He was a member of Gloria Dei Church and the Catholic Aid Association.
Survivors include his loving wife, Gladys; daughter, Mina Powers of Mexico; grandsons, Adam, Andy, Rob, and James; daughter-in-law, Lois; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marguerite; son, Gary; sisters, Lorraine and Verena; brothers, Shorty, Clem and Ervin.
