Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, St. Cloud for John B. Paul, 77, who passed away on Saturday at home surrounded by his family. Rev. Thomas Knoblach and Rev. Alfred Stangl will concelebrate. Inurnment with full military honors provided by the Waite Park American Legion Post #428 will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2008 at the Williams Funeral Home, St. Cloud and also after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the church. Waite Park American Legion Post #428 will conduct a ritual prayer service at 6 p.m. followed by Holy Spirit Parish Prayers at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

John was born in St. Cloud, MN to Bernard and Mary (Meyer) Paul. He served active duty in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded a Bronze Service Star, a Purple Heart and a Combat Infantry Badge for his meritorious service. John married his high school sweetheart, Renee H. Lenzmeier, on August 13, 1955 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud. John graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and was employed as an electrician at Granite City Electric for his entire career. He retired in 1993. John was dedicated to his family, his community, and his profession throughout his life. He held leadership positions in many civic organizations, including the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #292 and #343, the St. Cloud City Zoning Board of Appeals and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was on the Executive Board of the American Legion Post #428 of Waite Park and a member of the V.F.W. Post #428 St. Cloud. John's best times were spent in Northern Minnesota camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends. His favorite activities revolved around his land and family cabin on White Swan Lake, near Big Fork, MN. It was there that he taught his children and grandchildren how to fish and water-ski, how to hunt deer, search for eagles and black bear and to listen for loons around the lake. He also enjoyed woodworking, all John Wayne movies and family vacations to many National Parks.

John is survived by his wife, Renee of St. Cloud; children and their spouses: Kristin and Joe Kiefer of Westfield, NJ; Lori and J.R. Spangler of St. Cloud; Jeffry and Carolina Paul of Guatemala City, Guatemala; Jerry and Sandy Paul of St. Cloud; and Sara Paul of Minneapolis; thirteen grandchildren: Katie, Elizabeth and Rebecca Kiefer; Annie, Nick and Maddy Spangler; Jesika, Rea and Feli Paul; and Kayle, Jackson, Kaitlyn and Michael Paul; sister, Laura Benoit of Sauk Rapids and brother, Mike (Irene) Paul of Sartell and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bernard. Memorials are preferred to the St. Cloud Hospital Home Care and Hospice, 48 North 29th Avenue, St. Cloud, MN 56303 or Catholic Charities, 911 – 18th Street North, St. Cloud, MN 56303.
