Edward Joseph Burke

BURKE, Edward J., 65, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at Gulfside Regional Hospice in Dade City. A native of San Antonio, he enlisted in the Army in 1962 and served in Vietnam 1969-70. He retired from the Army in 1982 and returned to San Antonio. He was employed by the City of Dade City and retired as an electrician. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Dade City Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include a son, Edward Michael Burke of San Antonio; his mother, Agnes Burke of San Antonio; three sisters, Elizabeth Burke of San Antonio, Mary Forster of Florence, S.C., and Winifred Burke of San Antonio; his best friend, Jo Ann Burke of Zephyrhills; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday (today) at the funeral home at the corner of Church Avenue and Fifth Street, with a wake service starting at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2005, at St. Anthony of Padua Ca tholic Church with Father Henry Riffle officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Gulfside Regional Hospice.
