Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre for George C. Meyer, 103, Sauk Centre, who died Thursday at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Sauk Centre Seniors will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. and St. Paul's Catholic Aid at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.
George Meyer was born in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, to John and Rosalia Thole. He married Hildegard Meyer on May 26, 1925 in St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. They farmed near Greenwald and retired in 1957. They then moved to Sauk Centre. George has been a resident at St. Michael's Nursing Home since December, 1997. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, St. Paul's Catholic Aid and the Sauk Centre Seniors.
Survivors include sons and daughters Julian and Bernard of Sauk Centre, Cletus of Greenwald, Roger of Pittsburgh, Gordon of Lakeville, Dorothy Haider of Elrosa, Mary Kobilka of Forest Lake, Judy Trombley of Minnetonka and Jane of St. Paul; 45 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, April 29, 1998; sons Ronald and Eugene, brother and sisters August, Rose Zenzen, Christine Schulzetenberg and Nora Zeiske.Memorials are preferred.
