Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Loretta M. Meyer, 96, who died Tuesday at St. Gabriel's Hospital, Little Falls. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel, Pierz. Christian Women will pray the rosary at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel followed by parish prayers at 7.
Loretta Meyer was born in Buh Township, Morrison County, to Bernard and Margaret (Gassert) Faust. She married Nick Meyer on Oct. 27, 1925, at St. John's Catholic Church, Lastrup. The couple lived on a farm in Buh Township, where they farmed until her husband's death in 1969. She moved to Pierz a year later. She became a resident of St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home in Pierz in October 1998. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Christian Women.
Survivors include her children, Doris Langer, Clarence, Raymond and Jerome of Pierz, Irene Pfaff of Cambridge, Leona Stockert of Brainerd, and Marlene Ruegemer of Fridley; 42 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Melvin; sister and brothers, Katherine Morain, Joe, Henry and Bernard; and two grandchildren.
