Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Lastrup, for Loretta Welle, 72, formerly of Lastrup, who died Wednesday at St. Gabriel's Hospital, Little Falls.Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls.Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and an hour before services Monday at Brenny Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Pierz.
Loretta Welle was born in Lastrup to George and Anna (Held) Tretter. She worked at Brainerd Hospital in housekeeping and at St. Mary's Villa and St. Cloud Poultry and Egg. She married Leo Welle on Jan. 19, 1948. She had lived at St. Mary's Villa for the past five years.
Survivors include her daughters and sons, Barbara of St. Cloud, Theresa Waytashek of Effie, Rose Kowalzek of Pierz, Ella Kowalzek and George of Sauk Rapids, Clarence of Lastrup, and Joseph and Leo of Little Falls; sister, Alice Smude of Pine Center; 29 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, on Dec. 2, 1997; and three brothers and four sisters.
