Alverna E. Loch

Alverna E. Welle, age 84 of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at the CentraCare Nursing Home in Melrose. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating and Rev. Ken Thielman and Rev. Dick McGuire concelebrating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Alverna Eleanor Loch was born June 27, 1929, in Freeport to Joseph and Clara (Linn) Loch. On Aug. 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to Raymond Welle at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. The couple spent 43 years farming on the family farm in Spring Hill until moving into the town of Spring Hill in 1991. She was a hardworking homemaker who was devoted to taking care of her family. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill, St. Michael’s Catholic United, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Women of Spring Hill, and the Elrosa Senior Citizens. Alverna enjoyed cooking, quilting, playing cards, watching baseball, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Welle of Spring Hill; children, Darlene (Doug) Hookom of Anoka, Mary (Bill) Kemper of Melrose, Kathy (Ralph) Loehr of Savage, Ron (Kathy) Welle of Spring Hill, Mike (Donna) Welle of New Munich, Linda (Tom) Visser of Frisco, Texas, Lois (Will) Pomroy of Minnetonka, Larry (Rose) Welle of St. Cloud and Steve (Diane) Welle of Spring Hill; 29 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Alverna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herbert, Elmer, Gene, Urban, and Victor “Skeeter” Loch; and sisters, Lucille Kampsen and Irene Mehr. Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
