Services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Cloud, for Catherine M. Backes, 86, who died Saturday at Assumption Home.Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud.Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Home, St. Cloud. Christian Women will pray at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in St. Cloud, followed by parish prayers at 6:30.
Catherine Backes was born in Farming to Joseph and Margaret (Korte) Hondl. She married Raymond P. Backes on May 9, 1933, in St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Farming. They farmed in the Farming area until moving to St. Cloud in 1959. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Christian Women, St. Cloud.Survivors in-clude her son and daughters, Earl of Richmond, Julie Wunderlich of Foley, Jane of Cold Spring, Sister JoAnne, OSB, of Morton, and Linda Kidd and Darlene of St. Cloud; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Aug. 9, 1982; and sister and brothers, Amalia Kascht, Anton and Joseph.
