Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Evelyn M. (Eisenschenk) Hoffarth, age 91, of St. Cloud. Evelyn passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at St. Benedicts Senior Community in St. Cloud. Reverend Aaron Kuhn will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Boniface Parish Cemetery in Cold Spring. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the Church. Parish prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Evelyn was born on March 3, 1918 in Duelm, Minnesota to Frank and Anna (Luke) Goedert. She married August J. Eisenschenk on October 1, 1936 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Collegeville. She lived most of her married life in Cold Spring before moving to St. Cloud in 1964. She was employed as a seamstress from 1959 until her retirement in 1970. August passed away on May 23, 1989, and Evelyn was married to Odell H. Hoffarth on November 30, 1991 in St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the VFW Post #428 Auxiliary, and the Foster Grandparent Program. Evelyn enjoyed bowling, dancing, knitting and crocheting, traveling, and trips to the casino. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Odie; children, Donald, Mary Lou (Dennis) Nieters, Carol (David) Reiter, David (Gloria), Daniel (Cindy), Susan (Greig) Eichhorst; step-children, Larry, Thomas (Nancy), Judy (Wally) Moberg, Steven; 28 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, August; two infant sons; and one infant daughter. A Special Thank You to the Staff at St. Benedict's Senior Community, especially Cindy Eisenschenk.
