Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23rd at St. Johns Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN for Hilary J. Le Claire, age 88, who passed away on Friday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22nd at the Williams Funeral Home in St. Cloud and also after 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at the funeral home.Knights of Columbus Council 961 will pray at 6 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. and VFW Post 428 will pray at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Hilary was born on January 12, 1920 in New Munich, Minnesota, to the late Joseph and Anna (Frieler) Le Claire. He married Elaine Steman on October 27, 1951 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Hilary owned and operated the Midway Motel in Bemidji, MN for 29 years from 1956-1985 until retiring. Hilary was a member of: St. Johns Cantius Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 961, St. Cloud VFW Post 428. Hilary was a Veteran of the Army Air Corps during WWII and served in the Pacific Theatre.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; children, Joseph (Tracy) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Keith (Brianna) of Lino Lakes, MN and Jean (Rick) Shaffer of Minot, ND; siblings, Lambert of Robbinsdale, MN, Delbert (Cardy) of New Hope, MN, Allen (Shirley) of Mesa, AZ, Mildred Le Claire of St. Cloud, and Lillian Skillingstad of Waite Park; grandchildren, Heather and Justin Shaffer, and Emma and Amber Le Claire; step-grandchildren, Cody Campbell and Matthew Reppert; great-granddaughter, Miya Schaffer.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin in 1960; sisters, Sr. Noel Le Claire, OSB and Gertrude Larson and brother, Richard.
