Military
Pvt. Wilmerton enrolled in Company G, 23rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on August 25, 1863, and was mustered in as a Private on September 13, 1862. He served through the December 1862 Fredericksburg Campaign, and the May 1863 Chancellorsville Campaign, and was honorably discharged with his regiment on June 27, 1863.Endnotes
