James Fenimore COOPER

James F. Cooper was the eleventh of twelve children. When he was oneyear old his family moved to the frontier and his father establishedthe settlement of Cooperstown at the head of the Susquehanna River.It was not until 1826 that Cooper added the name Fenimore, hismother's name, to his own.
James Fenimore Cooper wrote The Last of the Mohicans, The Deer Slayer,and The Leatherstocking Tales, among many other books.
