Death

Obituary: "Martha Wilmerton, 95, of Coal Valley, died Thursday, November 21, 2002, in her home. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to the church.The former Martha Orman was born October 6, 1907, in New York, New York, the daughter of Rudolph and Mary (Kalnin) Orman. She married Bert A. Wilmerton on October 3, 1931, in Corona, New York. He died November 5, 1974. Martha was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in Coal Valley Township for many years. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, and the Coal Valley Fire Department Auxiliary for many years. She was active in Republican Party politics and supported her husband, who was Coal Valley Supervisor for many years and chairman of the Rock Island County Board. Martha is survived by her son, Bruce A. Wilmerton of Coal Valley, and a sister, Lydia Peterson of Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Ronald in infancy, three brothers and one sister."
