Military
James enlisted at age of 18 Royal Garrison Artillary. Reached rank of Sergeant. Served in England October 16, 1912 to August 4, 1914. Served in Malta August 5, 1914 to February 14, 1915. Served in England February 15, 1915 to August 30, 1915. Served in France August 31, 1915 to February 21, 1919. Hon. discharged in 1920. Recieved Military Medal for Bravery. He apparently went out on the battlefield and rescued downed soldiers. Also 1914-1915 Star, British war Medal and the Allied Victory Medal. While in Canada he joined the Lincon & Welland Army reserve Unit in Niagara Falls.Death
James died of pneumonia after working long hours as a lineman with Ontario Hydro helping make repairs to damaged pole lines during a raging snow storm in the Niagara area. His illness was apparently made worse because he had suffered a gas attack during the first World War.Endnotes
