John,

managed to get a link onto my (Ruane) Rowan family tree through Genes Reu nited hot matches. Here is the message from Frederick Norman. So I've go t more info on them now.

derek
Derek, Cornelius (1871) Ruane went on to change the family name to Rowan , and all his kids, who were born in West Calder moved to Shotts, and the y lived in a place called Unity Park in Dykehead Shotts, Unity Park is n o longer there, its the car park of the Co-op shop and the Airdrie Saving s bank. Cornelius married an Isabella Brown and they had quite a few kid s, one called Cornelius, the three of them are all buried in a cemetary i n Torbothie Shotts, I used to live in Shotts, I'm not from there, I jus t lived there for a while, my wife of 30 years is a Shotts lass. To prope r business, Cornelius had a son Hubert Rowan 1898, and he married Agnes L aird 1910, and they had 9 daughters and one son, Grandad Rowan died in 19 84 and Grannie Agnes died in 1989. There's now a whole lot of Rowan cla n kids all running about, but 90% live in England, all over the place, bu t about Birmingham is where most are. I'll leave you with that just now , but get back and let me know where you fit in with the Ruane's-Rowan's. Regards. Fred.

John, found another contact in the Rowan line this morning through Gene s Reunited. Anson Westbrook who has the person Isabella Brown born 1876 i n their tree. Isabella Brown married Cornelius Rowan born 1872. So that' s another link for me. I believe Anson has their tree on Ancestry.com .
Look forward to receiving the CD. Got a nice surprise yesterday morning a s my Aunt Margaret from Spain is in Edinburgh on a week's holiday. So sh e is meeting up with us on Tuesday. Wednesday will be for Croy this week.
Went to the steam railway at Bo' ness yesterday and took a couple of pic s for you John. The green steam engine is called Morayshire and the blac k one doesn't have a name.

A bit this morning doing Genealogy. I have been looking up marriages on I GI on those missing ones from my Rowan links. Hubert Rowan and his ancest ors going back to Perth, Scotland around to the 1790's. So got them to ad d in. That tree on ancestry.com is listed under "Th e New Westbrook Family Tree" If you look up Cornelius Rowan, it gives yo u a lot of links from that. It seems some emigated to Hudson in New Jerse y in 1933. derek
