After seeing action at The Battle of Vimy Ridge i n the Spring, Patrick Differ was in The Battle of Messines in June. The g oal was to take Messines Ridge, no breakout from Ypres could occur unles s the ridge was captured, on 7th June 1917, at 3.10 a.m., nineteen mines , with 500 tons of explosives denoted under the German positions at Messi nes Ridge. Less than 3 weeks later, while in the line, Patrick was kille d in action.
