He came through some heavy engagements and in the March offensive of 191 8 at Arras, he won the Military Medal. In October of the same year he wa s present with a gold watch for that distinction. Demobilised in Januar y last year, he had worked for a very brief period in the pits again. Hi s experiences had told upon his health, however, and since January of thi s year he has been in Bellahouston Hospital, where he passed away on Satu rday afternoon. A young man of about 25 years of age, he was the son o f Mr and Mrs Robt Shaw, High Barrwood, Kilsyth. The funeral, a public on e, was to the Kilsyth Cemetery on Wednesday.
