Former Wateford Resident Killed
New Waterford, June 19 - Stephen Daix received word yesterday that his brother George Daix, formerly of New Waterford, was killed in Belgium in September 1944. The young soldier was well-known here, having attended St. Agnes School during the time the family lived here. About 12 years ago the family moved back to Belgium. George was serving with the Belgium underground army. He was captured three times by the Germans and escaped.. The last time he was captured he was killed instantly by the Germans, his mother was present and witnessed the killing. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Daix, and other members of the family reside in Belgium.
